or you could run a y8 with a z6 oil pump but then you run into a dipstick issue :P

I had a turbo Y series with a stock pump and it pulled great oil pressure all the time. Pull it apart, D series blocks are very simple and as long as you torque everything correctly and remember where everything goes you'll be fine.

thanks. maybe someday ill build one, ended up buying a salvaged title coupe with a built y8 in it, and a bunch of other parts, gona swap my tired ls out for the built y8, and sell off the shell and a bunch of parts that came with it try to break even.

it has eagle rods, je 9:1 pistons, bored .20 over bloc, lots of head work, thats what i was told at least, so well see if i got got.

Z6's seem to be the way to go...plenty of them around. Even though you get whacked with the price tag of internals in one shot, it's not too bad when compared to the nickle and dime crap that adds up in building a motor. I've spent upwards of $600 rebuilding a single cam before, between machine shop bills, gaskets, bearings, etc., and that was just with stock internals :P
