I am hopefully picking up 2 first generation (one 87 and one 86) CRX's this week for $500. I am trying to decide which engine to swap in and turbo. I am trying to decide between the d16a1 and the d16z6. I think the d16a1 would be easiest because it is a direct bolt in. but since the d16a1 is obd0, does that mean i can't use uberdata? basically i am just wondering which swap would be easier/more logical.

 

you can run ghetto dyne or that new turbo edit but it all depends on the ecu you run. Im thinking about doing a mini me on a d15b2 86 hf z6 head with 2nd gen crx si intake but i dont know if the head fits i have yet to look at the top of the block

 

you've got an 86 hf? does anyone else have a 1g crx? definitely a minority around here

 

I got a first gen too. I think semnos still has one, but not sure.

I'd say go with the d16a1. It's the easiest and you can find them fairly cheap. Fuel management may be a problem if you are looking at zdyne or haltech etc.
I'm using an SDS EIC and msd btm6al setup.

That looks exactly like mine engine bay except for all those wires .I got to fix mine...I'm selling it .
Got me a 2nd gen..do you know that the PJ1 ECU can be chipped...the fuel map can be tuned with the older version of ghettodyne or with OBDOEDIT. I was gonna do that, but I blew a gasket and a lot of bad things happened afterwards.
Anyways post some numbers..
