This may be stupid but does the fan turn on? Possibly it's just in need of a new fan switch?

Don't go ripping it apart until you know for sure that it's a HG.

ya im really trying to eliminate as much as i can. the fan does turn on for sure. i still have to try a new rad cap

well its been about a week since i changed the radiator cap and the car is not overheating. i still cant beleive i was about to change the headgasket ....thanks guys.
