220v 30a plug. the welder only draws 23amps if i remember right. standard air compressor (not the big above 5hp ones, smaller ones) come with this style of plug

Re: Wiring 230V CE Mig - laundry room dryer plug.... its all I got! Need Help
My welder is 23 amps I believe, small
Heres what I just did, I found an old dryer, same plug, so I simply cut it off with a lenght of cord. So now Im left a few wiring connections to make
On the plug
WHITE/RED/BLACK/Un-Coloured unwrapped wire (wasnt wrapped in plastic, no colour I guess
On The welder
White/Black/ Green
My first choice, is white to white, black to black and green to red and the loose uncoloured wire from the plug to nothing. But I dont know what Im doing or is something needs to be grounded special at the welder or something
Please inform me guys
THanks

It pulls 23 amps, thats defiantely not ------- 14 gauge so bend the ---- over and take it like a man 14 is good for 15 amps , which work would for the specs that were listed, but if you had a ------- brain you would see we all ready came to the idea those were the WRONG specs! It's a 230 volt , 30 amp machine. And it is most likley a 4 wired feed , you just dont see the 4 wire because the ground go right to frame ! Any extension cord at all would at least need to be 10 gauge wire. 12 gauge is rated only for 20 amps . Go get a damn dryer plug all ready as has been mentioned. just find whatever fits your receptacle .
Go ahed argue i can list the ------- NEC article for ya too

Also, if the welder DRAWS 15amps it is NOT to be run on a 15amp circuit. 20amp at the least, but it seems nobody knows the god damn specs on this ------- thing.

Unless this is a pure 240 volt machine it will need a neatrel docotor boost.
Look on the welder where the wire attaches there should be a red , black , white and then a green ground screw somewhere . Find the cord that matches your outlet and your good to go .

He said the welder didnt have a red wire and it has a black, white and a ground so if its 220v those 2 colored wires will be hots and the bare is obviously the ground. ive never seen so much hasstle and confusion over hooking up a welder.
