i've got window weld on my drivers mount just cause i tore it up like a virgin. i'd say that it's a little bit softer than the inserts, but it still works pretty well. car doesn't vibrate to hell, but still keeps it pretty stiff

i tried to use the 3M ---- but it just got everywhere, but i got some polyurethane adhesive from home depot that is pretty stiff at first but after a while the rattles went away. pretty solid stuff. :y

Go to a body shop and see if you can get some of the uerathane (sp?) body panel adhesive that they use. When i used to work for a body shop we did a test with the stuff first...took 2 pieces of 3/8" steel plate with hooks welded on each side, then glued them together. Let it cure for 48 hours and put it on the frame rack, and it snapped the hooks off instead of pulling the plates apart. I ended up filling my friend's 91 gsr mounts with the stuff, and it's pretty much like using the inserts, except that they never fall out. The 3m stuff is junk, and it's not really the same stuff that glass shops use. The 3m takes forever to cure, and most of the time never cures completely, only stays sticky.

I used this one because unlike HMT's they used straight window weld. HMT's tech article uses both. I did two of my mounts and they don't rattle, but a VERY little and has seemed to help with wheelhop. Rode in a (looked to be) all inserted motor mounts and about after the first 3 rides you get sick of the buzzing and rattling. Do window weld and only do maybe a few at a time. Problem is you can't store window weld. Open it and use it.



I WILL agree with Pat that you should wear gloves. I had a that crap on my hands for Christmas Eve church. LOL. Go-Jo doesn't do much. Paint thinner did a little. Dad of course used brake cleaner (who'da thoughtl, huh? ::)). So rubber gloves and try it. Buzzes and rattles WAY to much for a daily driver IMO.

That will explain which mounts you want to fill and with what. You can use different grade polyurethanes to get different characteristics (the higher the number the stiffer it is, he used 80a in his). I would just go with Prothanes (all 4 mounts not just 2 like ES) unless your a sissy.

that window weld ---- is hella nasty. I tryed it and took to long to dry so I said ---- it and tried to wash it out (not a good idea). ended up just buying some energy suspension inserts for like $15. They will make your car buzz though.

Im glad someone finally agrees. All these people want to use window weld which is ~$11 a tube and 2-3 days downtime for curing and time spent washing your hands. Prothane inserts were I think $16 + shipping and the only downtime was the hour it took to install. I could see using a 70-80 durometer polyurethane if you want a quiet ride due to the sand stuck in your vagina.

I tried window weld and it turned out to be the messiest thing I've ever seen. I got ---- everywhere and pretty much completely covered my mounts in it because it was so out of control messy. :3 ---- that. It takes forever and a half to dry too.
