I would understand if my hands were dirty but i had just washed them and about to go to lunch when i was asked to help push this car in and he was talking about fingerprints not grease marks. i would not want grease on any car and understand that completely but just not touching it is a little nuts.

Standard procedure is to be polite and tell them they can't be in the shop due to insurance reasons. If they persist to hang out in the shop I stop working, then it's the owner or service managers problem and it's cutting into company time. The only exception I make to this policy is if I need the customer to look at his bike, Quad, or boat and make an executive decision on something.

Primarily I am a welder/fabricator/machinist.
50% of my work is designing and building the turbo systems for street and race cars.
The other half is building and designing sanitary pharmaceutical and food process tubing/systems.
For each type of work I spend half the time engineering/drawing and testing the systems, the other half of the time is spent building it.
Can't complain.

Sadly my days of slangin motors and parts will become a part time affair proably by the mid year of 2009. The automotive field is going to be dead in 5 years from what we know/understand and I sure dont want to be part of the sinking ship.
Going to go back to school again for ---- I dont want to learn again but I dont think by the time Im 35 I can make a living building/selling honda parts.
Conclusion: I ------ hated business classes got degree started up own business. Auto field is going to be dead in a couple years. Not sure what the hell Im going to go back to school for.
Most likely will just start orange chicken business and sell zc motors.

Why is the automotive field going to end? I can't imagine gasoline powered motors will ever be obsolete. Sure they'll be replaced by something more efficient and green, but phased out completely no way. I think there will always be a market for car parts, especially aftermarket and custom pieces.

Ok just this year there is no more nhra sport compact racing series

The 2 biggest sources of large income for import racing is dead and not coming back. 5 dollar gas is upon us. Dude I live this world was there from the start from working with one of the first 9 sec hondas in the world to now. I have seen whats going on its not pretty.
5 years ago we had 2 dollar gas and an endless supply of motors. We are running out of imported motors I know this because again I do it for a living. All thats really left is type r motors/k series/b20b's
In 5 years trust me the world isnt anything like it is today. You think you can afford 7-8 dollar gas and the cost of goods with your same income and a collapsed credit market
