Wheel spin effect on ET and 60ft times.

Was having a debate today while we where out shoping for new mag wheels and rubebrs for the car.
We went up to the largest rubbers suported on the factory rims. And have realised the only way forward to better rubbers is to change the wheels.

The argument is wether wheel spin is good or bad for yoru quater mile times.
The options where

1. Car shuold have no wheel spin for best launch
2. Car should have some wheel spin at launch or it will stall / fall on its face.

Which argument is right.

I think they both sound like valid arguments, i mean obviously if you have no wheel spin all the power is being transfered into forward motion. letting it spin so it won't stall has to do with momentum in the drivetrain, ie flywheel specifically. If you run a light flywheel you will either bog or smoke the tires, a heavier flywheel will help launches because if you rev it up and dump the clutch the spinning drivetrain carries more inertia with it and will be harder to slow down and making it less prone to bogging and thus easier to launch.

people run slicks to eliminate wheelspin. wheelspin is the best way to kill your 60 ft time subsequently killing your run.

if your car falls on its face with no wheelspin, you shouldnt even be racing it. cause its probably a hyundai elantra riced the ---- out....

If you launched on street tires or slicks with zero wheel spin, you would be more likely to bog off the line. Some wheel spin is neccessarry.

I get great launches and I merely chirp the tires. I suppose that's the beauty of AWD!

a small amount of wheelspin is needed, a very small amount just to prevent bog,

dunno about that, guess it depends on the car and how much power it has

are you tlaking abotu the majoirty of honduhs? no torque?

if you use slicks, and they hook and you bog dont expect your car to be a drag car.

When I raced na I needed some wheel spin, I was using hankook ventus tires :P
I used the same tires last time I went to the track and I had to do 1500 rpm drops and they still spun like crazy which gave me terrible 60ft times so I guess the wheel spin issue depends on power of the car.

You'll run faster slipping the clutch instead of wheelspin. Use the clutch to control bog/power delivery.

Not that I cut 1.75" 60ft's all day or anything on my 195 wide all season street tires, so probably disregard my opinion on this subject.
