my original 305 in my truck has 324,800 miles.. i'd say that's pretty reliable. The only difference in a 305 and 350 is the heads... buy a cheap 305, put 350 heads on it and turbo it all to hell.

if i was doing a turbo V8(sbc) i would do a destroked 400. but it depends on your usage of the vehicle and budget!!

Although 350 heads would work nice on a 305... a 305 is defintely a ton different than a 350.
Think of it as a d15b2 block (305) with a d16z6 head (350)... definitely a huge improvement with the new head. The blocks aren't even close (350 > 305 hands down) but the better head on the crappy block helps out a good bit.
