my original 305 in my truck has 324,800 miles.. i'd say that's pretty reliable. The only difference in a 305 and 350 is the heads... buy a cheap 305, put 350 heads on it and turbo it all to hell.

Doesn't that leave you with valve clearance problems?

Why would you make yourself look stupid by saying something like that?

Damn, google it or something before just posting something that dumb.

Although 350 heads would work nice on a 305... a 305 is defintely a ton different than a 350.

Think of it as a d15b2 block (305) with a d16z6 head (350)... definitely a huge improvement with the new head. The blocks aren't even close (350 > 305 hands down) but the better head on the crappy block helps out a good bit.

well yea but, the major difference is the bore size and they all (305) have 2bolt mains (from the factory)
305 bore 3.736"
350 bore 4.001"
305=5.0L and 350=5.7L

one more thing on the 305 heads they have very small combustion chambers (=high compression) and the 350 heads are a lot larger.
