cayenne, its part of the AWD system.
the touaregs had and issue with the steering angle sensors giving false readings so the AWD system would shift power to the wrong wheels/wrong percentage of power and it would cause the stepper motors to wear out in like 10k miles

Re: volkswagons are the gayest cars in the world
it took VW about a year to even aknowlegde the problem then about another 6 months to fix it, even though after 2 months of the trucks beingon the road we were replaceing stepper motors 2-3 times a week. but even after they said it was the steering sensor that was causing it they never superceded the part they just kept giving us the same ones.
porsche should never had gotten in bed with VW/audi again. i'm sure they could have designed a much better vehicle than VW
we had only a few instances where the case was fubared.

Re: volkswagons are the gayest cars in the world
I had the plessure of driving 180 miles 1 way(williamsport-philly) to retrieve a motor for my friends jetta (99 vr6 140,000 miles when the engine died). My 87 prelude had 142 when this happened. He even had the nerve to call my car a piece of ---- too. Even beyond all the stupid mechanical problems, the thing i don't get is the styling i.e. overlowering cars, tire tucking, bozer hoods and other odd ----. Apparantly with my completely stock car, i am the ricer?

Re: volkswagons are the gayest cars in the world
My thought is this, after owning many different cars and trucks of all different makes and models, and doing all the work on them myself, from engine swaps, to tracing wires in the interior I've decided this:
If a VW kicks your *** when you attempt to work on it, you are not that good of a mechanic, go back to changing your lawn mowers oil.
VW's while more complicated aren't any harder to work on if you have the service manual and know what tools to use and how than any other car out there, hell I enjoy doing suspension work on my 01 Bora
Cars that truely suck to work on cause your always fixing something or another: DODGE STRATUS's w/ 3.0L SOHC V6... what a pain...
