^^^ with a hot tank ^^^

what I am saying is, the vitara pistons don't have anything going for them except for the low compression. @ similar compression to a stock piston, they will act the same way as a stock one will. you understand what I mean?

I do, but I also heard that the cast is different and theyre coated with somehting(only aftermarket replacements) which makes them tolerate the heat a bit better than stock Z6 pistons.

I dont know, there is too much contraversy over this matter, I hear different things from different people, there is nothing wrong with that, I take in to account everything I hear, but I guess its a trial and error situation, some people love these things, and some dont.

I just dont wanna run my Z6 pistons and then end up with a melted one then again you said stock pistons wont work with the rods i'm getting off craig, so I guess its between Vitaras or dishing out the $300 and getting forged.

there is not going to be any special coatings, casting processes, or metallurgy involved w/ a piston that wholesales for $83 for a set of 4. it's all hype hype hype cause some douche wanted to make $ selling them.

i ordered a set of replacement g16 pistons from fjt and they came in a few days ago.ive been doing some research since then and found out some interesting ish.everyone knows these pistons can handle some boost but now i know why.
these pistons are made of ac8a grade t-6 heat treated cast aluminum wich is much stronger than standard cast piston material and much more resiliant to heat!
also in maximum boost they mention t-6 cast pistons as a good alternative to forged pistons
Thats a Quote from someone on HT, I dont know if its true or not, but I never heard anyone melt/destory a Vitara piston yet, same cant be said for stock D series pistons.

^^I'm with this guy.

I can talk about how I am selling SSatuo manifolds with a special heat treatment that prevents them from cracking and helps spool time and I bet some dumbasses will buy into it.

I see your point, ok so tell me this, will I be ok using stock pistons with 15-18psi? because that seems alot for them.

no, you will be using aftermarket forgred pistons. vitara pistons are "stock" in a vitara. and you just said yourself 15-18psi seems like a bit much on "stock" pistons you know? I know how you are feeling man, I wanted to believe it too, but after alll the research I did I can't justify putting those pistons in a motor I care about.

Welcome back to the topic.

Craig, I got those rods today. They look exactly like my old eagles. I have high hopes for these. I'm going to be assembling a shortblock today and doing a write-up (with stock rods/pistons), but I'll be sure to take some more pics of those rods. They are VERY nice. Thanks.

The motor I'm assembling tonight is just a stock dx that I'm putting new rings in. The rods will be going in my old y8 (now Cray91's motor) with some type of forged pistons. We haven't decided yet, but we definately aren't falling for that vitara stuff.
