i just called my aunt who is a real estate agent, she said buying a house now to LIVE in is a good idea because they are lower then they have been in the last 5 years and will go up next year but she said buying one with the idea of making money is a stupid idea and your not going to make anything worthwhile on it. maybe your area is different.

lol, either way it can't be a bad idea. Also depends on the area. I'm buying to live in, but if/when the time comes to where I can sell and make a ton of money, I will.

You aunt makes money in real estate, right? You just said your aunt said housing is at an all time low right now, but it will go up next year. How can she say that and then say buying right now to make a profit is a bad idea? :1 If I buy now and it goes up next year, I MAKE A PROFIT WHEN I SELL.

its at a low in comparison to the last 5 years. she said hosuing is down about 20%. 10 years ago houses were about 100K cheaper then they are now when comparing 100K range house. she said in 96 a house that sold for 90K is about 190K now. if you consider making 10-15K on a house a huge profit after owning it for 10 years then you may be right. if you think your gonna buy a house and live in it for a couple years and make 50K not including what youve paid in on it then your mistaken. thats all im saying.

It all depends on the area. I've seen it happen here. You can't tell me you know how the industry is going to go in the future. If history is any indication, it will repeat itself. I'm not trying to buy a house and retire a millionaire a month later.

I'm making my housing payment work for me and make me money/equity. Not trying to take over the world here.
