Thats not true, soona s you lower compression on that motor to make up for hte boost you lose that NA power advantage. Thats what I was getting at. :)


The real advantage you would have is that you could control the exhaust and intake timing much better then you can on a SOHC.

Yeah, but when you start running in numbers upwards to 18+ psi you gotta start lowering compression or you're running extremely high risk of blowing a piston through the crank. So when you lower that compression... you lose power.

If you're running ----- boost like 11 psi, then a B-series is definitely better but you're just a ----- :)

who said anything about lowering c/r?? i've said it a million times, and i'll say it one more time. you put the same exact set up running the same exact boost on a b16 and a d16, which one's going to make more power??

You run 18 psi on a B-16 and a D-16 the d16 is gonna fry it because of the compression.

Not to mention the motor is like 30 lbs lighter, and the transmissions are alot stronger for d-series. Plus your general cars with b16s are overweighted because of their transmissions you guys gotta use that nasty half shaft ---- while we just use our straight axles bizitch!

I think teg is saying the b will make more power than a d if your running under 18 psi. ;)

Yes but when you're running 18 psi that B-series motor is gonna blow up, because of its higher compression.

I love d-series motors but the fact of the matter is, if you want a cheap bang for you buck get the d-series, they are very cheap to come by and make some decent numbers with a good setup. But there is a reason that b-series motors cost so much, and why do you think Acura's come with b-series instad of d-series, they are just plain better. You get better cam adjusting, beefier rods, and higher compression (not saying this is good for boost). But in the end you see stock boosted b-series, making just as much power as semi-built d-series. You get what you pay for. I am in no way trying to convince anyone to get a b-series, but it's easy to see that b-series are better than d-series.

Go with the z6.
