HA, "bombs underneath the car" I used to own a 1st Gen RX-7.....Then I cracked an Apex and got the "Bomb" noise that you seem to be describing, Couldnt find any other 12A's and I didnt want to pay for the 13B so i just scrapped it.....as for your situation, I'd say wait it out...It's only a week. Plus, If you ever plan on selling that thing, the less owners the better.

Those temp permits are like $1 out here in AZ. You can even print them out over the internet(if you have a printer).

Triple-A Plus membership w/ 100 miles free towing (per tow) costs less than transferring a title + vehicle tax twice. It's also damn handy for the rest of the year your membership lasts.

I got a title transfered when I was 16 in Florida. Dont think my parents signed anything. I had to give proof of insurence but my parents wouldnt need to be there for that either.

I have never heard of ANY instance of having to be over the age of 18 to own a vehicle... When I was like 14 I had a car in my name...
