So how do I transfer a title (without my mom knowing, haha)
 

So I've gotta get my RX-7 out of the autoshop by like next week, and its got 10 year old tabs, so i've gotta get the title transferred. However, im not 18 yet, and I KNOW my mom wouldn't take another car in her name (my 2, sisters, hers). So I'm thinkin about having my very good friend transfer it into his name since he's 18, and then once I'm 18 he'll transfer it to me. Why? I'm not trying to spend money on towing, since I live far away, and I worked my ass off to get it running again so I wanna drive it pretty bad. Of course I'll have a contract with my friend, but he's seriously the most trustworthy guy I've ever met.

So uh, does this sound like a plan? I'm not 18 for another week, but I want to get it out of the shop already. And the last time we drove it down the street and back, he flipped a bitch and took my keys for the rest of the day.. but it was kind of open downpipe and backfiring "like bombs going off under the car" >:D

Why do you need to get it transfered? Who's name is it in? Why can't you just drive it? ???

its still in the dude who use to own its name, he brought it to the school for his neice to fix and work on, and become her car, but her parents wont let her drive such a cool sports car, so i'm "buying" (?) it for free. can't drive it cuz it needs new tabs and new plates. thank god its too old for emissions though. i'm getting the title from him later today or tomarrow

just drive it with your friend driving behind you ::)

i bought my car and drove it from chicago to detroit with no tabs or plates :P

and my cousin bought his car from battle creek and drove it down to detroit no tabs or anything.. just have the title in ur hand and have it filled out with TODAYS DATE so the cop doesnt think anything of it

because if he impounds the car.. you = fucked...

as long as u take it easy on driving an fix the exhaust so u dont attract attention and have ur friend drive behind u so no cop see's ur plate ull be ok..

yes. there are some instances where you can have it in your parents name, but you own the car, but then it just takes 2 signatures to transfer the car.

i've thought about doing this, but i know the auto teacher will have a fit and tell my mom if he found out :l but i'm definately in the process of putting the stock exhaust back on, that ---- is loud as ----

To sign a title over yeah. Under 18 is considered a minor and they can't enter into legally binding contracts without consent.
