Shocks and HMT's Advice...
 
So I'm in need of some new shocks/struts for my EJ8 and was looking for advice from my fellow board members (that's you). I want something that isn't stiff, bouncy, or hard to ride on. It's your typical boosted D on 10lbs for the DD. DEFINITLY comfort over performance. Looking to drag at the track once in a while, but mostly looking for a better ride from my Eibach lowered coupe. Any opinions/suggestions are greatly appreicated and thank you in advance guys!

Dropzone = junk.

Omni are decnet, Tein, SKunk2, Neuspeed, H&R.........

I love my setup. H&R sport springs and Tokico Illumina struts. It's a pretty small drop (1.8 front, 1.6 rear), the struts are 5-way adjustable and setting 1 to 5 is night and day difference. Settings 1 feels stock and setting 5 is stiff as hell. My setup worked really well at the track and awesome on the street. I always drive around with them on the hardest setting, but for a really long drive I might dial it down a bit.

See, the adjustable's are so much more expensive than regular 'pre-set' shocks. Is it worth the extra money? To change the setting you just reach a hand in and twist the knob?

My Dad suggested adj. on the rear (stiff for track) and run non-adj. up front. Opinions?

If your looking for something compfy to drive around in that will perform well at the track, you NEED adjustable shocks. My recommendations are Tein, Tokico, or KYB AGX's. Or quit being a ----- and roll some stiff shocks :y

I have those Drop zone struts, they feel the same as the kyb's on my CRX

Yeah they are more expensive, but if you have a street/strip car they are defintely worth it in my opinion. If you lived close I'd give you a ride and show you the difference. Changing them is easy as hell too, takes about 1 second a strut with a small flathead screwdriver. Personally I would just get adjustables all around if you going to get them at all.

I have a stock 89 hatch right now, I got the springs, but I don't know what to do about struts. I don't need adjustables, but they are just better struts than the non adjustable ones. Example tokico blues and kyb gr2, basically stock replacements, so nothing special. The adjustable tokicos and kyb's on the other hand allow for a small drop (1.5 inches or so) and can handle aftermarket spring rates better from what I have read.

Ha, thanks. My MAJOR concern are the passengers, mainly chicks. It sucked bad enough not hearing anything in a N/A 3" exhaust rattle bucket when my seals went, last thing I need is to spend bank on a stiff ride. :-X


So basically the NON-Adj. ones are all pretty much stiff?

The Adj. ones drop you more or just allow for that drop?

Right Donald, I want this EJ8 to ride like a Caddy so stock replacement springs to me seem kind of pointless. All that money for nothing good at all. :-\

Blisten is about a couple hundred dollars too much for me though, haha.
