get an sri, wrx will be slow no matter how much money you dump into compared to an STi, let's say an 05 WRX with an STI bottom built wrx head, fatty turbo, fat injectors, 6 speed spec c tranny, sti rear end, blah blah blah, is ---- compared to a bone stock 06/07 sti [i know it's not an 05/04]. A car that has like 50-60k invested total is blown away by a ~35k stock car. save yourself some time and money and start with an sti |
Re: A Sad day....no more homemadeturbo
buy something cost less and save up the $, u KNOW you are going to ---- with the car no matter what.

Re: A Sad day....no more homemadeturbo
why not go subaru RS with a ej25 sti swap. much cheaper then all of the above.

Re: A Sad day....no more homemadeturbo
As car guys, no matter how much you say the STi is good to go, you WILL want to do things to it. It's just the way it is.
So it's up to you. I have an 02 WRX. Yes my tranny went after about 2 years, but now I have the stronger forester tranny in there, drives great. My car hit mid 12's last time I went to the track. It's fun and pretty quick. I did have to spend a few extra $$$ to get there. BUT, you can find a cheaper WRX (02-05) and use the extra money to get it to EVO/STi numbers pretty easy, but you will have to work on the car. If you are like most guys here, you will enjoy it, except for when you change your Up-pipe and your injectors >:( ;D, but you'll have fun. If you can afford it, then yeah go for the top of the line model. Get the STi and have fun with it. Just think about what you want to do. I said my WRX would stay stock, because it was fast enough, fun enough to drive. That changed in about a week and after reading about other cars and how much you could do with them. I still love the car after almost 4 years. |
