And dude, you are my friend and all, but sometimes you let your *** do the talking. Do you really think that white people were doing our shitty jobs in the 50's and 60's? They have been here as long as we have, we just kicked their ------- asses in a few wars and expelled them into the huge *** mexican "reservation" we call mexico. Probably over half of the wars fought on American soil were over territory involving what is now, or once was mexico. (BTW california happens to be part of that "once was")
For about 25 years after mexico became an independant nation (in 1821), California was a province of Mexico. Then americans started deciding that california was a good place to build cattle ranches and we took it during the Mexican American War of 1846-1848.
Don't act like they just stepped in here, WE stepped in here. However, we are clearly dominant (in terms of technology and numbers) so they need to do what they can to survive in our setting. Be more tolerant of people, however morally fucked up our little system of segregatioin is, it works.

Having gone to crenshaw high shouldn't inhibit your knowledge. Going to a public library and reading about your own history is easy and free, even for a mexican. That kid is smart, and can/will grow up to be a respectable part of the world, not some strawberry picking day labourer. He needs only to believe he can.

I respect you alot man. What you have done for yourself and your family so early in life is something that alot of people will never accomplish, no matter what race they are. I'm glad to see that even living in a place like texas, in a predominantly white area, you havn't assimilated. It really pisses me off when a mexican, or a black guy, or whoever, tries to blend himself in with his white counterparts and consequently loses hold of his own heritage.

I understand why you think the way you do. I just don't think there is any reason to differentiate between people except merit. If somebody, of any cultural background, works hard, and leads a moral life, you should have no reason to get down on them. I think that might have been the point you were trying to get across in your post about the differences between "white trash" and a "white guy" , etc. in which case, maybe you just needed to word that differently and it would have came out less offensive to certain people.

I agree that somebody who decides to live in a country whose primary language is english should have a good understanding of the enlish language. On the other hand, your employer is probably just trying to save a buck or two an hour by not hiring english speaking people. maybe if the job payed a little better it'd be easier to make english a requisite.
By the way, I am not a mexican. But the connotations that come with the term "white" don't seem to fit me either. At least I'd hope not. I just consider myself human, and I wish there were more people who thought the same way.
