not sure, i didn't make it, but if i were to take a guess i'd say it is so the turbo can clear between the runners and rad support and so the oil return isn't sitting on the hot runners all the time....just a guess though

No, the sinktrap and the elephant would be exhaust manifolds, he asked about intake. And the exhaust isn't one of those anyway, it's just a bmc top mount.
