Re:Porting / Poloshing heads
no wal-mart, how do you survive
any hardware store should be able to help you out, or anywhere they have dremel tools.
here is a great deal on egay

everything you need is in this kit, except for the carbide bit.--the sanding wheels will work, but will take longer. use the sanding for the last bit of the porting job.

Re:Porting / Poloshing heads
Check out www.endynracingengines.com I believe it's their articles section that has alot of information on porting. ---- dremels, they suck *** for porting. Get the biggest oldest, lowest RPM grinder you can find. I'm serious, it gives you alot more control. Most pro porters use old school dumore grinders, at like 4 RPM.

Re:Porting / Poloshing heads
Porting is not has easy has buying tools and grinding metal. I have been porting for around a year and half and it's really an art form. Dont expact much of any power gains with tools like a dremel. Turbo heads are much easier and forgiving then all motor. There are plenty of links all across the net with proper tools to use etc. I good grinder, good bits your at around 200-300 for just tools alone.

Re:Porting / Poloshing heads
For that price he could have a shop do it. Sure a dremel is not the tool of choice for those that are in the business of porting. But it is good enough to get the job done. And then he's not stuck with $300 in tools he probably won't use again. The dremel way is HMT style.

WOW you took the words right out of my mouth. what does that *** mean, you wont get much power gains with a dremel tool, taking away metal with a drill, or taking away metal with the dremel tool, what does that have to do with not getting power gains? use a dremel and what i have told you before, it all works...its doing the same ------- thing.we are all broke on this site. sorry your not.
