Re: Out of the turbo honda game. Got a '77 Celica. Bought a 1UZ-FE
Id go Holset. It is big enough to make more power than you want so it will leave room for improvement.

It took me awhile to find one at the price I wanted to pay, with all the accessories and wiring and whatnot I needed. The engine is strong. Lots of Aussies putting big numbers on stock bottom ends. I'm definitely going to boost it. HMT-style. I was going to keep it conservative, shooting for 400hp or so. I'm trying to figure out what way to go for turbo/s. 2 60/63 T3s, or a single HX40 or something. I want to keep the budget at $500-600 for turbo/s. I gotta say, keep looking at that SSautocrap T70. :1 |

I gotta say, keep looking at that SSautocrap T70. 60/63's will both own & support that on that engine easily. 48/60's would be insane to drive in that little car on the street, but obviously... Gonna be some major choking on the turbine side somewhere between 350-450bhp. |

time for an external mount oil cooler, old-skool JDM style.

Re: Out of the turbo honda game. Got a '77 Celica. Bought a 1UZ-FE
I'm leaning pretty heavily towards singlle turbo. It just seems more efficient. All the mustangs, 300zxs putting down good numbers run a single. Plumbing the charge piping and exhaust would be much easier, too. Plus, you don't need as many bends, mufflers, wastegates, turbos, flexpipes, couplers.
Here is a chart of the 1UZFE pressure ratio vs. air flow http://www.lextreme.com/GT.html Engine Liter Cubic Inch Air flow Static 6 psi 8 psi 10 psi 12 psi 14 psi 16 psi 18 psi 20 psi 1UZFE (AirFlow) 4 244 367.26 cfm 35.74 39.08 42.633 46.044 49.4905 52.937 56.3835 59.83 Pressure Ratio 1.41 1.54 1.68 1.816 1.95 2.086 2.2216 2.3572 Here's a couple turbos I'm considering: Master Power t70. These are really popular with the turbo mustang guys. http://bgturbokits.com/store/index.p...fe48702fcbbabf http://www.turbomustangs.com/turbotech/compmaps/t70.jpg Holset H2E, maybe H1E or HX40. I'm not a big fan of the odd ball sizes v-band and the integrated WG. They are also in demand for the turbo diesel guys, so are pretty expensive for a used turbp http://img83.exs.cx/img83/8629/aae5cl.jpg And the ebay ssac stone "t70" Which is supposed to be more like a t61. A bit smaller, faster spooling, on the edge of the efficiency island. But ---- is cheap... $375 including 50mm WG and bov. I have seen a couple people run these on HMT, without problems. It's pretty tempting. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Turbo...44642906QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEVER...temZ8044682561 http://www.turbomustangs.com/turbotech/compmaps/t61.jpg |
