my setup and build pics, will be update as i progress

i finally got my hands on a digital cam so i got some pics of my progress, i just got the block back from the machine shop because they had to cut the channels for the o-ring deeper. then i painted it and clearanced the crank scrapper. still have to check rod clearances and then install the o ring. way more pics to come. maybe even a how to. till then heres where things stand

well lets see that costs $1000 when i can pay $40 for the edyne post kit, $75 for a block guard and $150 to have the o ring channel cut. all labor performed by me. so you do the math. this method will be more than enough to support my power goal of 300 safe and reliably

i think i will do one on the o-ringing process and the proper way to stretch rod bolts and measure, as there have been alot of misconception about this.

Around here, I guess sleeving a Honda block costs only around $350.

Looks good though :)

Re: my setup and build pics, will be update as i progress

well i checked the rod bearing clearances and they are tight as hell so these king bearings are goin in the trash and i have to buy oem because i don't want to line hone the rods again. kings are comparable to honda greens so they say, so i may step down to a honda yellow and plastigauge again.

o-ring was probably overkill, but hey at least you wont be popping headgaskets pretty much ever.

Looks good, but won't you need a bigger turbo for 300hp? 48/60 seems a bit small to me for 300hp.

i know, im thinking about upgrading to a GT30R w/ a .63 turbine housing. but i want to atleast see how i like this one and whats its limits are. i'll get the bigger turbo when i switch to a top mount and add 550's to get to 300hp effortlessly

no,nominal rod bearing clearances are 0.0008-0.0015 with a service limit of 0.002 which would equal 0.0017 max allowable clearance. someone correct me if im wrong but im almost 80% sure. you can't really tell but the plastigauge is almost a hair over .001

^ thanx ;) ,anyways i talked to earl from laskey who recommended going with pinks instead of yellow. so this will continue once i receive the bearings from majestic honda. i'd much rather do it right that to have this ---- slang a rod on the dyno or street.

ya im putting crowers in my b16 also and the clearances didnt like the greens.
I believe the crowers are modeled after the #1 rod.
So now im using 3 yellow sets and 1 pink.

with aftermarket rods they should all be uniform its your rod journals that have the differnce in clearance from one rod to the next. did you micro polish the crank?

Re: my setup and build pics, will be update as i progress

my crank is CCCB for the rods
yellow yellow yellow pink

Re: my setup and build pics, will be update as i progress

checked all the clearances again with the new honda pink bearings.everything is good. lube that bitch up lets go!http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

roll it over a couple times and everything feels good.

on to o-ringing.

-heat the copper wire for 3 minutes @ 250 degrees this process is called annealing. this will make it more pliable and easier to manipulate.

-start at the very center of the intake side feed the wire into the channnel by hand http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

-then gently tap the wire into the channel with the bottom of a hammer, i opted for my bling bling snap on hammer because of the rubber handle so it won't hurt the wire.http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx
http://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

-once you get it all into the channel and back around you need to snip it very close so the two ends touch but don't overlap. it has to be perfect and seemless. you will catch on after 2-3 tries. there MUST BE NO GAP OR OVERLAP of the wire. end cutters work best to cut the wirehttp://www.we-todd-did-racing.com/we...EzZGZkMzF5NTQx

-repeat for the other cylinders in the same order. your final product should look like this

i hope to have everything complete by mid june. im playing hurry up and wait with the body shop so........... once i get my car back i can part the motor and swap the head on to here, i've already ported the head on the old motor and my arp head studs are in the old motor too so i'll swap those over. still have to get a water pump, t belt, some misc. orings and ----.
