mine is around 720. i think you need to pay of the fees. get like a weisfield card and buy sumtin for mom or girlfriend. like 200 bucks and make 20 to 50 a month payments that should bring it back up.

woot...

Got a letter today saying for a limited time only, I can settle my $900 debt for $250 and it'll be shown on the credit report as "paid in full."

That leaves me with only 400-500 to pay.

Do you have credit history built up? If your report doesn't show that you've had revolving accounts that have been paid, you won't have an easy time getting high credit cards. Get a jewelry or department store card, pay on it a few months, and you can move up.

I got a $300 jewelry store card, bought a watch, paid it on time every month, then bestbuy gave me an $800 card.

No idea then. My first credit card had a $300 limit, and a few months later I was able to get one with $800.

They also look at how many cards you have open (or how much total credit you can use), how much of it you use, how many loans you have and their payments, and compare it to your income.

Depending on how late you are it may not even be worth it to pay them off. Is it the original creditor or did they sell off the account.

It will raise your score a tiny amount if you pay it and it says "paid in full". It will look a little better if someone does a manual overview, but otherwise an CO unpaid is almost equal to a paid CO.

Look up your states statute of limitations. MN is 6. If it is over 2yrs already, and you don't need to use your credit soon say ---- it.

This is all moot if you can get them to agree in writing to delete the Trade Line from the account. This is what you need done.

Yeah, I'll see if they can do that instead. I'm trying to quit wasting money on an apartment and get a house. Last time I tried to get a mortgage, they said I needed to clean this stuff up. So I guess mortgage folks do manual overviews.
