My credit score SUCKS!
 

560 :o I had no idea it was that bad. Been reading on the net and I've seen that the biggest thing dropping my score is a charge off I had with SCBandT bank back in 07. It was only $150!!! ----.

I've been looking online and I see alot of websites are recommending Lexington Law Firm to help get rid of negative things on your credit report. Anyone used them before?

This sucks cause I was hoping to buy a house coming january but I don't know if I'll even get approved with that score.

I can tell you all you need to know to get your credit fixed. ;) You can get a loan for a house with that score. If you could get it up to around ~580 you would be golden. Where did you get that score from? Is it an actual FICO score? Anything other than FICO is worthless.

BTW, here is a FREE site that gives you your Transunion "FAKO" score. It's a worthless score, but it gives you a very general idea of what your credit score looks like.

I just got my credit reports for free, but they wanted to charge to show me my FICO score. Is there any place that does it for free?

nope and you can dispute that chargeoff for free thru equifax transunion and i forget the other one. I just disputed somthin on mine they took that ---- right off. my score is 780 but dont have enough credit history for it to matter.

If you paid a debt off, will it be removed or stay on there and show it was paid? Will disputing it get it removed?

So how do I go about getting these negative things taken off my report?

I can dispute the charge-off but what do I say?

The only other directly negative things I have are a couple accounts that I made late payments on. Is there anyway to get those off?

I also have a $2100 car loan that I will be paying off shortly so maybe that should help a little.

FICO scores are never free. :-\ If you have a WaMu credit card they come with a monthly free PFICO score which is your actual Experian FICO score.

DO NOT PAY IT. Unless you have WRITTEN and SIGNED documents from the company that placed the charge off or collection on your report. A paid collection is just as bad as an unpaid collection. Also, if they have already charged it off, that means they can't legally accept your payment. A collection company most likely bought the debt and THEY will take payments, but like I said, DO NOT pay them unless they agree to delete afterwards.

Dispute the information they are listing. Don't flat out say it's not yours. They're getting picky about it when peopel say that. Dispute the balance, the date, anything they have listed. Just tell them you want all that ---- validated and if they can't validate it, you want it removed.


As for late payments, dispute them as "NEVER LATE". If you've been good about making your payments ontime with that company they will most likely fold and delete the late from your report.

You have no idea how much ---- I have had deleted from my credit reports just by asking. It's amazing. :6

Damn. I got 570 on the CreditKarma thing. I just paid off two old bank charge-offs like a month ago ($125 and $325). Both companies said they'd report the debt as paid, but f it's just as bad, it seems like this was not the way to go. What should I have done instead, if anything?

I'm also about to start making payments on an old (my first, from 2004) credit card. I owe $750 total and they want $125 a month. The guy said it'd look good on my credit since they'll change the status to "making ontime payments". Is this a good idea?

time to get rolling...i think my first real card was when i was 22 (although i had a phone in my name for years and one store credit card with a 150 limit, not sure if that matters lol). Im 24 now and got a 720 or some ---- and got approved for a home loan ;)

If you want to improve your credit score, you need to go to http://www.creditboards.com/mambo/ and do a lot of reading. They have template letters to send, will tell you how to get free copies of your credit report and how to get things removed. Each situation is different, but they may be able to help you.

*Might* have trouble. I guess I could say it wasn't a cut and dry open and close loan, but I was still approved and everything worked out. It's always going to be harder to finance ---- when your credit isn't perfect though. No major deal.

I have learned MOUNTAINS of important ---- from that website. That site is full of super smart people who know their ----. :y


Hmmm....not a bad idea. :6 If you really want to get into credit repair you should check out the creditboards website. I don't know ---- compared to some of the people on there. :S

I have an Idea, When my account went into collections they kept sending me bill after bill. Eventually they start decreasing and I ended up paying only like 40% of the actual total. Should I talk to the Collection Agency and tell them that if they take the charge off from my credit I will pay the remaining balance?

You have already given them what they wanted. :-\ They have no reason to work with you now. Yes, you are offering them more money, but for some reason they don't seem to care about that after they have received the initial payment. :-\ Collection companies are bastards and are VERY hard to deal with. I've NEVER talked with one on the phone and NEVER paid them anything. If they get my phone number somehow, I change my number. If they send me mail, I throw it in the trash. Bad ---- can only stay on your report for 7 years. A paid collection isn't going to help much compared to an unpaid collection so ---- them.

i bought a newer car a while back, let a friend use it and he wreaked it, said he hit black ice when it was 45+ out :S, but i found after i had them check my car out for insurance and had them tow it away, when i went to get a quad they said i had a repo on my credit report, so i was turned down. i was told to stop making payments i had 750 before this and now i have 532 because of the repo on my record, also insurance only covered most of it, and the bank is requesting me to pay the remainder. its like 50 a month, should i try to make some agreement with them? and can it be changed, my credit was perfect until this, and i want to buy a house within the next 5 years. would like some advice... this is gay, and id like to figure out how to make it decent again. any help would be appreciated. thanks alot

Stop making payments? You thought that was a reasonable idea? The bank should eat the costs of your friend's screw up? First of all, I would have bitched at insurance to cover the cost, they'll only try to cover as little as they can get away with. If they wouldn't, then I would have paid it off. You earned that credit score.
