Jago's latest build

Pretty standard TT/Vitara setup on a z6. I'm currently running a .48/.60 T-bird T3 and am going to have some fun with it for a bit before I get a bigger turbo and intercooler. I haven't tuned it yet but I'm only shooting for 300 whp, I'm sure I'll up the boost at some point and test it's limits since I have a spare block now.

Specs:

Z6 block/y5 vtec-e head
75mm Vitara pistons
OEM main/rod bearings
TT rods (one rod needed machining to fit the wrist pin)
TT 660cc injectors
Stealthmode oil lines/firewall kit
Supposed prototype Blur manifold, feels pretty ------ solid
TiAl 38mm wastegate
JRC 6" intercooler (for now)
Walbro 255lph LP in-tank pump
.48/.60 60 trim T3
Greddy Profec Type S EBC
1G DSM BOV
2.5" charge piping, downpipe, and exhaust. Exhaust consists of a 2' long cherry bomb for a resonator and a generic turbo muffler.

Obligatory rod/piston shot

Block notched

I got shiny instead of flat aluminum engine paint on accident and just said ---- it. My block is mexichromed out :8

Attachment 22615

Boost, oil pressure, boost control

Attachment 22616

The closest button to the shifter is hooked up to the EBC to switch between high and low boost settings. Right before I shift into 3rd I hit it with the heel of my hand to switch to high boost. Lower knob is the gain control for the sub amp.

Attachment 22617

I knew my intercooler piping had begun to rust even after I painted it, it's mild steel and has been through 2 Wisconsin winters. I did NOT know that it was all rusted on the inside, maybe even worse than the outside. It ran great and I had no idea it was this bad; glad I saw it before my engine ingested rust flakes.

Attachment 22619

So I picked up an eBay aluminum piping kit for $100 shipped, not a bad deal. ---- some rust.

Attachment 22620

Al tubing installed, I reused the 45 off the throttle body with the bov flange on it because I'm lazy :P

And a little before and after shot

I haven't driven it enough yet to tell, haven't had time to fully tune it yet.

When did you swap from the old b7 to the z6? I'm running a similar setup, I make it a weekend ritual to re-weld that manifold, but it seems to be holding up fine for the last 5 or 6 weeks....maybe its had enough welding and will co-operate now.
