how long can it sit

Re: how long can it sit
fyi.. i just put a bottom end that sat in someones garage for about 1 year wrapped lightly in plastic, and i took it apart, checked all the bearings and scuffed the cylinders with wetsand 1500 grit paper to get the buildup off the cylinders .. and when i put the engine in the car.. even tho i checked the rings on the pistons, they had some rust on them i didnt see and it rubbed the top of the cylinders enough to give me low compression in cylinder 2.
i am pissed about it so it will be fine sitting just make sure if its a long time its gonna sit to CHECK EVERYTHING TWICE!!! now i just dropped the block off at the machine shop and its gonna b another $120 and 4 days til i get it back in the car
i hate doing ---- twice but it should be okay if you check everything before just assuming its okay and put it in

You can buy a fogging oil to keep engines fresh while they're being stored. You're usually supposed to load them up when they're running, though.

id' let it sit for however long you want, then pull the plug wires, the fuel pump fuse and crank for a while. reinstall and your good. as long as you put some sort of lubrication when you built it, you will be fine
