I work in an automotive manufacturing plant as a robotics technician making 34bucks/hr and I work on people's cars on the side for fun. I also work LOTS of overtime so I don't have too much time to work on cars.

There are other companies around here that pay more than that for maintenance. Toyota is about a half an hour away and they pay close to 40/hr. I work for a Magna company that makes all the GM pickup truck frames and the frame for the H2. 1200 robots in the plant and 3 of us per shift to maintain all of them.
