The reason it was filled with Hydrogen is because the us has the only natural deposits of helium in the world, and we wouldn't give it to them because the nazi party might use it for military purposes, google the "Helium control act".
Doesn't matter though, the paint is what actually burned and caused the whole disaster, even if it was filled with helium the same thing would have happened because the diesel fuel from the engines would have still caught fire and the airship would have still crashed. |
