K-series aren't high revving, you are confusing them with the older Honda engines.

If you can afford the entry price, and upgrade the valvetrain before it pwns itself, they are robust and make good power. A reliable 400 is do-able with a stock long block plus retainers/keepers.

The ---- in the ass for K-series is the transmisssion, but since an Atom weighs less than one wheel on a Corvette you could replace the transmission with paper mache and still have 100K reliability.

There, now you can go around and pretend you know something about imports. HTH.

'99 and hate to break it too you, but even tho the SRT-10's are not quite as shitty. their reputation is still a poor quality knocked together kit car.

you better start saving, i could actually buy a new vette you couldn't buy one atom ::)

you guys ------- realize that the USDM version of the Ariel aton comes with a Supercharged ECOTEC... rated at 300bhp.. that motor has proven over 1400hp....reliably can do 400whp easily, rods and pistons and a fatty turbo and your set...go ahead and try to prove me wrong

unless all you fucks are going to inport the sweet Euro version or build your own, you won't see a k20 in the atom here in the states

I realize, I was just arguing for the sake of arguing. Have known it for years after looking them up out of curiosity on the price. It's not the only 4 banger you can push to those numbers, but it wont be street driven that high. k can do 400 reliably as well, but like jd said it'd be best to upgrade valvetrain. I've seen quite a few posted on other forums over 500-600whp on completely stock blocks though...

I would be purchasing the Ariel without the motor...and build my own. 8)

I really hope Johnny goes and puts the deposit down on the Corvette...gives me an excuse for the wife.

Chris, http://www.superlitecars.com/roadster_spec.html

Can you buy one and I come and help do fun things with it? If you threw JD's 85mm LS engine in it, this car might actually run a decent time.

PS: Ariel Atom is as much as a Corvette. Atom is a better performing machine hands down. If you are looking for a good all around car, bang for the buck probably goes to the Corvette. If you are looking for a good all around PERFORMING car Atom kills the Corvette.

how do you figure lol

the vette c6 z06 traps 125+ stock...
it 60-0 in about 90 feet...
corners amazing...

the atom does too, but i doubt its nearly as fast. and the atom is a open cockpit go kart.

Put them in terms of seconds please. 0-60 in 90 feet means I have to do calculus and I don't want to.

http://www.dragtimes.com/Ariel--Atom-Drag-Racing.html

Ariel Atom

0-60: about 2.5-3.0 seconds
1/4: 11.500 @115

I love how you are posting 10 second time slips as if they are bad. I don't understand your position. I like Corvettes a lot. Stock for stock, Atom offers more performance.

i said 60-0 which means braking

the c6 z06 does it in about 90 feet

Just means it got major traction... Its like an FWD car can trap 167 and run 9.2s, but a RWD car can trap much less and run lower times... Atom isn't about straight line speed though, its a track day toy. Z06 is as well, but its much more of a street car. Overall, if I had the $$$$, I'd just take a Caterham 7 and a C6 Corvette for the same cost as either the Atom or the Z06...

you're backwards

it runs 11 something at 115 which means it gets great traction.

the c6 z06 runs 11 somethng at 125 means it can't launch hard and gets shitty traction if it were to use all its power

115 trap is c5 z06 terrority

c6 z06 > atom in any race except autox which is not worth mentioning anyways

its too fast
