ahhh, no not quite. what they will most likely do if its under warranty is issue a repair auth # for you to take to the "nearest authorized repair person". then you would turn your computer in to that repair place, then wait a couple weeks, then get it back. |

---- DVDFab, it sux donkey dick i guess we will have to agree to disagree then. i had nothing but problems from nero when I got it with the DVD burner i bought, got dvdfab and never had issues and burned well over 100 dvd movies with it. |
Re: dvd byrning problem
see, i had the exact oposite. nero was perfect for me, dvdfab wouldnt burn right

Re: dvd byrning problem
dont get me wrong, i use Nero for EVERYTHING else but DVD Movie burning.
I love Nero for everything else, but the DVD movie burning wasnt at all plesent and the quality of the burn wasnt up to par for me. It was very jumpy and "locked" up when playing a DVD in my DVD Player for my TV. but I have never had an issue with burning anything else with nero (data cd's, music cd's, mp3 cd's, and data DVD's), just no movies. |
Re: dvd byrning problem
well i did the test thinks. i had to download some file and save it to my desktop, then extract it and try to burn an image to a disc with power2go. it failed the burn. so i reported it back to the gateway rep and im waiting on his email. i wonder how much its going to cost me to have this one swapped out with the new one they send? im def going to take it to a shop to get done.

Re: dvd byrning problem
im sure you could do it. it should just have some screws to take out then you just slide the old one out, and the new one in
|
Re: dvd byrning problem
i think a lot of people have problems with the vista dvd maker, but what a sweet program if it worked. i got it to work sometimes by burning at like 1x or 2x even though my dvd-rs say 8x

Re: dvd byrning problem
Honestly the drive was the easiest thing to get out of that last laptop I fucked with. We took off one plastic cover from the bottom, took off a couple more screws, and the drive slid out. Took 2 minutes tops.
I have used nero for everything since CD burners were $250 for a 2x burner (but I made some mad cash in school selling them, thanks napster O0). I haven't burned a video dvd in a year or two since I just store all my media on my harddrive now, I forget what software I used but it wasn't nero. For copying dvds I use dvdshrink and ripit4me for lionsgate movies that dvdshrink can't rip. |
