dvd byrning problem

im haing a problem burning dvds all the sudden. my laptop will get 99 percent throguh with it and tell me an error occured and it couldnt be burned. it started out just skipping a little in movies that were burned, now it wont burn them at all. i have adjusted the burn speed to slow, i also bought a different brand of dvd-r's. i cant figure this out. im using a gateway m1617. im using windows dvd maker as the program. the laptop is only almost a year old now. help me out.

Do you know what kind of drive it is? I have a Sony DVD-RW that's a couple years old and it can't read or write CD-R's and will only burn DVD's at the slowest speed. Sony drives are known for having shitty laser that burn out.

burners die sometimes

you might just need a new one

I've had 3 optical drives fail but never had a harddrive go out

can someone tell me if this external drive is compatable with my comp? im def not computer savvy, i just figured out utorent a little while ago. If it will work for my comp, ill buy it. But if my drive is bad, will it still read regular cd/dvd's? If it won't, will this drive do that for me?

it uses usb so yes it should work.

you can replace the drives (it's a computer, just smaller), and can probably find them cheap on egay

i was under the impression that since it was a laptop that it was just kinda shitty luck if something goes out. do they make replacement drivs for laptops?
