Do some research on the engine. The Y series have a weak oilling system.

you can die for all i care.......dont tell me what to attempt and not what to attempt to do. you dont even know me for that fact. and in case you didnt know, i DIDN'T know there was never a d17y7 built..........like i said it may be a mistake on his end -------. week oiling system or not, i wonder how many people here have a boosted y7? ---- i would be boosted if my motor never took a ---- on me to begin with. i have all my ---- ready to go. ask around before you start making assumptions. and mainly, why do you think i even made this thread? hehehe....

Use the search button..... Its right up there in the top right of your screen.

Ok yes the D16Y7 is a cheap engine that you can play around with. They are fine turboed, just as good as Y8 (96-00 USDM EX) because its the same bottom end but just keep in mind that the oiling system could use some work on them. They like to spin bearings. What I would do is either hog out the outlet on the oil pump or get a D16Z6 pump. Could maybe save you some headaches. The compression ratio on them is low enough too about 9.2:1 ish. I'd look for a Y8 intake manifold too because they have the funky horizontally mounted throttle body.

I'd keep the A6 though.

I just turbo'd a D16Y7 with a Y8 intake. I have done 3 actually. They boost just fine. Get it if its cheap. Change the intake manifold and ride.
