Re:Clutch problems

Okay so I finally pulled the tranny back off and was so pissed I had the thing off in 45 minutes from the time I pulled it in garage to the time I had the tranny on the tranny on the floor. The throwout bearing was all ground down in the inner part and worn unevenly from where it rides on the clutch disk. Now is the throwout bearing suppose to be able to slide over the middle section of the clutch disk cause I'm able to slide it over on the stock disk but not on my new 6 puck disk. example of what I'm taking about. Notice that on the stage 1 or 2 the section that rides on the mainshaft is thinner than the section on the stage 3. Now does the throwout bearing slide over that or not even touch that? All this probably made my question more confusing.

Also the car would shift when it wasn't started but not once it was started. And the car would only start once I manually turned the engine but hand just a little bit and then started it up but once I turned it off and then I tried to start it back up it would just make this whining noise like the starter wasn't meshing with the teeth and just grinding on the starter.

Re:Clutch problems

Well I got a cx tranny(with throwout bearing!) for 20. I just used the throwout bearing and release fork from the CX and went right onto the y8 tranny. Only thing is that I used the 6 puck pressure plate since the disk is what caused the throwout bearing to go bad and put a stock y7 disk back in and it's chattering my fillings loose! Will this eventually go away or not. It's no biggie and I'll just pick up a NEW clutch sometime soon and use this one till then. "On the road again!" Note to self do not ever buy a used clutch. Maybe when I get the new clutch I'll experiment with the CX tranny but for now stick with my y8 and chattering hybrid clutch.

Re:Clutch problems

is the chattering pretty bad on a unsprung puck type clutches cause this is tolerable for the time being but how bad are sprung puck clutch's?
