Clutch problems
Well I put in a new clutch and flywheel yesterday and this isn't my first time so I didn't get any mysterious parts leftover. Problem is that clutch pedal feels really light have way down and then gets more pressure about 2 inchs before bottoming out. I can shift throw the gears and nothing is locked in place of stiff or notchy. Just the clutch pedal feels very sloppy like halfway down and when I go to start the car it gives this high pitch grinding sound like when you try to crank the ingnition when the car is already on. Help. I took off today to get this thing going. Oh and the clutch is a sprung 6puck and ACT flywheel installed into a y8 tranny and everything was torqued to OEM specs. One thing I noticed is that I'am able to push and wiggle piston on the clutch master cylinder. Shouldn't there be constant pressure on it when I push on it? Only thing I can think of is that I need to bleed the master cylinder or that the MS is shot. Only thing is that nothing is leaking or anything. Help!

Re:Clutch problems
Did you bleed the clutch release before reinstalling it? I know you said this isn't your first, but its usually the obvious things we forget to do.

Re:Clutch problems
I didn't bleed the clutch because it was fine the last time I swapped trannies and didn't bleed it. I just ran and picked up some brake fluid and well see if that was just it. :-\

Re:Clutch problems
i'd say bleed it

Re:Clutch problems
It's just like your brakes everytime you change em you bleed the lines. Just to ensure there isn't any air pockets. let us know what happens, i think this will solve your problem though.

Re:Clutch problems
Alright, I Just bleed 'em and it's still feels mushy. How can you tell if the master cylinder is bad or the slave cylinder is bad?

Re:Clutch problems
Most the time it will leak, just head to the parts store and get a rebuild kit, they dont cost much

Re:Clutch problems
Nothings leaking though. Can they still be bad without leaking? My car was fine and the clutch assembly(master, slave cylinder, lines) were fine before hand. Just the clutch was slipping when I had my turbo in and took it out and sold it instead of replacing the clutch at the time. Now that I'm building another kit I bought a new clutch and flywheel before I install my new kit. How long does it usually take to bleed the lines? Maybe I just didn't do it long enough. I bleed it until all the bubbles were gone and I thought that was it. This sucks. ???

Re:Clutch problems
You ever think that thats just the way the clutch feels? i remember after we installed a 6 puck in my friends gsr hatch it felt way different, but most the time the pedal feels heavier

Re:Clutch problems
Its not cranking over. It's making this high pitch whining sound. Similar to the sound that it makes when you already have your car started and run and you try to start it up again.
