Alright well it seems as though you have enough info on what to buy but little help with where to buy it from.

I'd suggest taking a look at www.cycletrader.com

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better site for finding motor cycles and within a decent price.

For insurance the bigger the bike the more expensive it will be but not by much. The main killer is full coverage. In michigan with 5 points on my liscense they wanted 3200 a year for a new R6. Full coverage is senseless becasue your almost paying for the bike in a year or two in just insurance. I ended up getting a 1993 gsxr 600. Full coverage was bout 2800 every year when I only paid 2500 for the bike, makes shitload of sense doesn't it? Well I got PLPD as we call it in michigan (personal liability and property damage) anyways it was about $300 a year.

I wouldnt suggest the bike I had it was very heavy and hard to handle. Acceleration was good but nothing like the new 600's.

Your friend who said anything below 750 is a waste is really a dumbass. The new 600's like the R6 are so light and very very powerful. I've ridden about everything 600's, 750's, 1000, 1100.... The biggest difference is on the highway. If you do a ton of highway riding get a 750 or bigger so you dont have to turn 8 grand to do 70 - 80. As for a new bike if I get one which I might this summer... I'm all about the new Liquid silver R6.

Oh like noted above get some gear. I never rode without leathers, a helmet and gloves. It didnt have to save my ass but it almost did a few times and I"m sure it would have helped a ton.

hope that helps, wow that was windy. I think i need to go look for some R6's now that you all got me excited about bikes again!

Re:CBR 900????

Thanks for the info Ive been doing a lot of reading into things... looks like im gonna have to save up like 2-3 grand to get anything decent. But im gonna go with a Private Party, cause fuckn dealers suck ass... yeah warranties and crap are good... but the financing and insurance is gonna kill me.. so im just gonna get liability or nothing at all. and dont worry im not gonna be one of those dumbasses busting wheelies on the freeway...

All of you guys have been a great deal of help..

and oh yeah about the 750cc thing... well my friend who told me that rides a Harley... so I could see how that would apply to that heavy beast
