Re:CBR 900????

i had a 99 cbr 900rr, and it's fast as hell, as someone else mentioned, i wouldn't get it if it's your first bike. a 600 is plenty and then some. in my opinion, the yamaha r6 is the best 600, but the honda f4i's are very nice too. insurance is actually very cheap for bikes, because what's the most damage you can do?? chances are if you do wreck, your not gonna ---- up anyone elses ----, so there reall isn't a risk for the insurance company. whoever told you not to get a 6, is either stupid and doesn't know they're ----, or has been riding for a while, and just moved on. a 600 is plenty ;)

Re:CBR 900????

projekteg has a point. a 600 is plenty, but if you're wanna does people who would rather have a b18c5 than a b18b. then go for like a 900cc.

Re:CBR 900????

yeah, but it's like you have a b18b first and it feels fast and it's plenty for you for a while, then you master it and get a bigger one, i doubt many people that have never had a honda before, look for a b18c5 when they are considering buying a honda, same pricipal ;)

Re:CBR 900????

yeah this would be my first bike... so im guesing the 600 would do then... and i would also think the parts and insurance would be cheaper on the 600 than the 900......

Im not looking to get a new one... something along the lines of a 92-95... a beater... a fixeruper... i dont care... im gonna primer that bitch black anyways...

but yeah guys thanks for the info.... once again

Oh yeah im still keeping my car... hopefully with a new job ill be getting soon i can build up a reliable LS setup.

But this bike is pretty much just for transportation, for now..... (evil grin on face...)

Warren_teg - Damn, thats hella low price for insurance :o My insurance for my 2000 ZX6R cost me 550$ one year, just for liability and this is thru Progressive. But then again I live in NYC :'(.

Re:CBR 900????

the only older bike i would get would be the honda, all the other ones look like doo-doo. the honda f3 (predecessor of the f4i) are about as low as i would go, i think they are 94-96 or something like that, before those you have the f2'a and then you starting to look a little old, epecially considering the 04 bikes, holy ----, there are some phat ass bikes out now. every day it seems like i'm tore between getting a new bike or building up my car :P

Re:CBR 900????

250-$1500 er so
new plastic for anything-$1k

I pay $75/yr for liability and comprehensive, so if someone knocks it over in a parking lot, it almost payed for itself.

I also wouldn't get a katana or other steel frame bike. Not just because they're slower, but because they weight 100 pounds more than a comparable aluminum frame bike and are much harder to handle.

Re:CBR 900????

I had a CBR600F4i last year for about a month and a half. My insurance was $250 for six months until my insurance company said, "Oh, wait, we don't insure those kinds of bikes anymore. Your policy will be cancelled in two weeks." The reason the rate was low was due to the agent not putting it in as a CBR but just as a 600cc bike. Progressive had the cheapest rate available which was... get this... $3000 a year. Needless to say, I had to trade that sucker back in. I did get up to an indicated 162mph on it though. ;D
