yeah, right now im going to concentrate on that active duty DEP.

and, if worst case scenario comes about, i have a last ditch plan that wouldnt allow me to ship when they want me to.

so if i have to i will push my ship date back until they have an opening for whatever i want. although it might hurt.

Wow, Everything i am about to say has already been convered, i just want to reiderate the facts.

You are in no way obligated to the marines rite now. You won't be until you raise your hand and ship out that day from meps.

"Getting stuck with a contract"
Getting stuck? Tell them to ---- off and NO

Like what has been said, they need you, you don't need them.

What i did was walk into my recruter, said, i want to do this, call me when it opens up.
Bam, got what i wanted.

Quit being a ----- and tell them what you want, and when they are ready to give it to you, you will go.

Exactly. Build no relationship with those people. Honestly. You need to make a decision, get through MEPS, get accepted into the dep program, tell them what you want and tell them to tell you when its available. Don't call, don't go in there to shoot the ----, don't call them up on a Friday night to tell them about the new broad you just banged...don't do ----.

Show up to the dep PT, start running, doing pull-ups, crunches on your own...start drinking water like its ------- cool, and get ready to go. Pay your bills, don't go buy any ------- cars, don't get any credit cards, don't owe anyone any money...you get the point.

And don't be afraid to contact me if you have any questions.

Don't be afraid to contact me as well. I may be "navy" (kind of) but i understand and know how the procedures work.

Just go tell them what you want, and tell them to call you when its open.

/thread.

Re: big ass marine corp discussion. to be or not to be, infantry.

ok, got my infantry contract.

had to make some concessions, but none of them are to bad and i still get to leave monday instead of april when they wanted to make me wait till.

negative thing (kind of, dosent bother me now but may later): contract is 6/2 as in 6 yrs active and 2yrs inactive instead of a 4/4

but

positive thing: 15,000 signing bonus, and im not sure if i still am eligible but i may be able to get another 5,000 shipping bonus(the money really dosent matter to me but im not going to refuse it)

so.......

now its really setting in and im kinda ------- nervous. not like i dont want to join nervous but like, holy ---- i leave in 7 days nervous.
