Re: Aerocivic

when you get into REALLY hardcore pulse and glide driving it's going from quick accellerations to whatever speed deminishing returns from your aerodynamic and mechanical drag occure down to low speeds where you can coast a long way. dancing from 25-55 is pretty common. tailgating like a mofo.
quick burn engine on followed by engine off coasting. now equate this on level ground, up and down hills + evel ground, ect. taking turns as quickly as possible to conserve momentum gained. early braking / coasting and late braking not with traffic flow but to conserve momentum and or timing.
real quick way to piss people off.

when i do it, i try to dance around 45mph as much as possible. when you're on good old county or rural roads it's not that much of a big deal. in twisty, hilly roads its sorta fun because by speeding to 60 and coasting back down to 40-45 you can typically maintain the average speed of traffic, if not slightly out accellerate them.
the best thing is hen you get into say afew stoplights in a row and you're engine off coasting for 1-3miles. that's where the lightbulb hits and you go hey... any dumbfuck could get atleast 50% more gas mileage in any vehicle if they tried. plus until you get tired of it it's self-entertaining.

if possible do it on a M/T lacking powersteering, and instead of flipping the key (it would suck to have the steeringwheel lock on you) use a switch / switch + relay to cut the power to the ECU.
sometimes i do it if im not pressed for time, but it's gotten to where i always do it in the civic coming home b/c the last 3 miles the traffic is at 25-45mph and i normally can engine-off coast almost two and a half miles. (and it's not downhill)

I would derive great satisfaction from running over that thing in my truck.

damn that side pretty much revolves around civics and crx's. Guess we aren't the only ones who figured our they are gods gift to men. I still would never go that far in modding for mileage, but i would enjoy the hell out of 50+ mpg.

Im sure a VX with some minor mods not so silly looking could get you 60-70 mpg range easy it got fifty something stock.
