4 stroke 2008 banshee?

I got the new Dirt Wheels today (april 2007). On the cover is a 4 stroke banshee. It looks like Yamaha is testing some 4 stroke 500cc twin cylinder Banshees in Japan. I just skimmed over the artical and there doesn't seem to be much info. on it yet other than Yamaha is testing many different prototypes. Basically they are saying it is 2 YZF250 cylinders or half of an R1 motor. There is actually talk of it coming out with 60-70 hp out of the box, but may even be as high as 85hp (1/2 of the R1). It will be interesting to see what Yamaha actually does with this. I am wondering about the powerband of the twin 4 stroke motor. Will it have more torque/bottom end power, or be higher revving like a sport bike.

I looked on Dirt Wheels website and they don't have the picture of it and I couldn't find one on the net anywhere. They only show a side view of the quad in the magazine, but it looks like the Banshee radiator with Raptor/YFZ450 front fenders and headlights.

I hope so. :3 Next thing you know Chevrolet will be dropping an I4 into Vette chassis' to lower the price and power to make them more affordable and insurable. :3 Why not put smog pumps on and emissions friendly horseshit. Maybe start making an "alternative fuel" Banshee running on propane getting 49mpg while throwing down a staggering 15whp. :1 If Yamaha ruins the Banshee with that 4-stroke pile of ---- motor, Yamaha will lose alot of customers. :3

i read somewhere that 500cc banshee is supposed to have 72hp. if that is so that is far more than the 350cc 2 stroke banshees have now.

very big step up...

Those are just estimates from uneducated people.

And I supposed it "should be" more reliable than the 2 stroke 350 motor, right? ::) It's funny how everybody I know who owns a 4 stroke is having problem after problem and when they first bought it all they could talk about was how reliable and trouble free they are. ::) One of my friends just had his bike serviced after it wouldn't start and was backfiring. $1200 for a "tune-up" and overhaul that shouldn't even be necessary. I've never had an expense over the cost of a new piston/rings and a cylinder hone. 4-strokes suck and putting one in a bike that has been an absolute success as a 2-stroke for so many years in a row would be retarded and pointless. :3
