It lives!


Well, at least it started and ran!

Now I need to replace 4 wheel studs, change out the front springs, and do a little maintenance.

But it lives!

Too bad I knocked over my vid camera today and smashed it.

Insurance is back in force so I can drive it around and break the motor in. The new exaust header feels better (spool up wise).

Have some black/blue smoke on low boost. Could be running rich, could have a bad turbo, could have both..... But it runs!

 

Awesome #'s and that power curve is some serious business.

I think I've seen your car before..on I-205.

 

It "was" fast.

I just paid to have it towed back to the shop.

Big odds I just bent the valves in all 4 cylinders.

Was headed up towards Terwilleger Curves on I-5 South @ about 14 psi give or take in 4th, maybe 75 mph, when BANG a big *** ****** ------- backfire and it died.

I made it to the shoulder (got lucky and made it to a pullout), and inspected the motor. Nothing obviously wrong. Tried turning it over and it sound like 0 compression.

Back at the shop I took off one valve cover and the driver side cams are still 100% lined up, so I suspect the crank skipped a BUNCH of teeth on the timing belt and OUCH.

So much for getting it back on the road for the West Coast Subaru Show 10 on August 16-17th.

at minimum, headgaskets and a timing belt. we will see when I dig back into it.

 

Damn that sucks, but you have hart so I know it will live again!!!

 

Wow, that's a tough break.

 

motor is out. took about 45 minutes......

Getting head gaskets tommorrow, "should" be running on Sunday.

I have an extra set of heads from the last motor (I had built this current motor while the last one was running).

I have also confirmed ALL the valves are bent. Will post carnage post tommorrow.
