Im already thinking and planning for one. But Im not even out of the hole yet with my turbo project. I start mine today

My buddy that I bought the wide band from said that he may have a BTM laying around that he would give me, so we will see. If that works than I am one step ahead.
I am by no means opposed to spending the money to do it right but I would like to get it working without spending the same amount of money that it would have cost to do an engine swap.
I think that I am just about 98% there. Pulled the plugs and they look good. I will be switching to a 1 step colder plug that rob mentioned earlier and richening up the fuel a little more.
Everything that I have read says that the adjustable map tunes the fuel curve from 60-80% throttle and up. The only time that I am running slightly lean is WOT. So on paper, it seems that if I adjust the MAP richer, it will only richen up the fuel curve at 60-80% throttle and up. My map is only adjusted .20 volts higher than normal. I have been stepping it up at .05 volts at a time. Each step I am less lean than before, so we will see.

Like I said, running an engine with cast pistons at WOT with a 15/16 to 1 air fuel ratio and no timing retard "should" blow up pretty quickly. But it's your Jeep. I have not put a wideband on mine yet. It would be nice if it were right around 11.5-12.0 to 1 though. Most engines will blow black smoke and misfire when the ratio gets too deep into the 10's, and mine seems to run very clean at the part throttle boost levels i've given it so far. I am not too concerned with wasting a little fuel under boost if it helps keep my engine together.
I am not even going to run mine at WOT until I get a wideband on it.

I hear you on the Megasquirt. I usually DFI my blower cars and they become a complicated, expensive snowball. My plan was a turbo'd 2.5 for ***** and grins before I threw the V8 in. I did not want to spend more than a few hundred bucks on it. I think it is around $500 now though.
About the adjustable MAP, I think that manipulating the MAP signal will work at around 80% throttle and up, but it will also be richer when in open loop as well. Basically, it should run overly rich until the PCM goes into closed loop. It might not run too rich for you too really notice though.
You also might want to see if you can hook up a fuel pressure gauge and watch it under boost. Adjusting your MAP further won't help if your fuel pump is maxed out. Most YJ's with fuel pressure issues tend to be a clogged fuel inlet sock on the pump. With enough wheeling, that crap gets in the tank somehow.
