Not necessarily the lower the better. You can go with higher compression pistons, but tuning is going to be critical to make the engine last. I've tuned setups with 11.6:1 compression ratio's and the higher compression will pay off in the end. But, alot of people will use lower compression pistons in the 9:1 range to allow the tuner a little more freedom... What kind of pistons are you talking about? Stock or aftermarket? I'd definately look into a set of forged rods and pistons. If it's your first setup and you'll just be driving this on the streets and some track, I'd go with a lower compression piston.

I'd say if you have your choice 9:1 is the way to go.

A good affordable combo is the wiseco 8.8:1 with eagle rods from race engineering if you'd like to go low compression.

The myth that a point of compression is going to spool a turbo a lot faster is a myth. Difference between 9:1 and 10:1 spooling a turbo is practically non-existent, why not leave some more room for error?
