those are the pistons i went with, but i have a mini-me set up so it bumped the compression up a lil'. but as i've heard and learned, if you go w/ wiseco, you will hear some piston slap until it warms up a little bit. but they are serving their purpose allowing me to boost at a respectible 15psi on a 14b

Static compression won't make a huge effect on low revs performance.
The higher your rpms are the higher compression you can get away with generally.
I'm all for low compression because I like huge wide torque bands and modest reliability.
And no it's not all about the tuning, an 11.5:1 CR motor will never make as much power as a 8.5:1 motor when both are running the same fuel. The 11.5 will have less than optimal ignition curves.
