what do you think about the FMU+pump setup?

Re:what do you think about the FMU+pump setup?
I started off with your setup as my main option being that i have limited funds at the time. I now thikn that SMC+ and 450's and an intank pump is a better route. This way you get some of the tunning campabilities without the high cost and you dont have to worry about a FMU putting too much pressure on your fuel system and being hard to tune. A SMC plus cost like 115 new which is about the cost of an FMU and DSM's are under 100.

oh and read the "SMC help"post under engine management.

woah,
I havent considered this smc+ before,
I thought the safc was the only option for cheap tuneability. and even that is too much cash(2-300 for just the safc)
Hmm, i'm definetely considering this,
thanks!

Re:what do you think about the FMU+pump setup?
when I had a turbo teg I really liked the way it ran with the fmu (drag kit /w 12:1 vortech and stock injectors)... to mean it seemed to run very smooth (although rich), when I upgraded my injectors the car never ran as smooth, but I made great power (that was before the smc, or hack... I just used 370 injectors, an 8:1 and an afc)
a high flow fuel pump is a must though.. you will be really mad if yu smoke a motor to save yourself $100

Actually I think the 12:1 on the FMU means that it increases fuel pressure by 12 per puind of boost which would be 7* 12 =84 and if stock is 32 then that puts you at 116 ..opps my bad 120 is right i was thinking 84 total not extra.

I am am thinking of a very similar setup on my D15B7 budget setup... any of you guys using intercoolers? should I just go with a SMIC? Is one of those big custom Tyrus IC's a bit too much for 7 psi?

hey, one thing I know,
if you can afford a great ic, get it.
I got a cool rx7 one, from a 3rd gen rx7,
I like it cuz I used to have one of those cars, so its like a keepsake, hehe.
but yeah, better intercooler = colder air = more reliability = good for our little motors
