Default Water to air intercoolers

I was thinking about taking my DSM SMIC and welding a box around the fin area then putting a 1/2" fitting in the front and the back and running water through it. Do you guys think this will work as good as a water to air intercooler? I don't know how water to air intercoolers look inside but arent they just like regular intercoolers? Does anyone know how much water the water pump has to pump to be sufficient for a water to air intercooler? Thanks for any input.

Oh, about the boxes I have access to plenty of scrap metal at work so I'm just going to do all the work there. Thanks though.

Let me snap some pics.. I bought enough to do two intercoolers then the other guys changed his mind so I just need to get rid of them.. They are basicly the size of the front of the cooler and 1.25" deep. 3/32" aluminum. I might not be able to get pics till monday though.
