air to air for everyday street driven car, unless you like to stop for ice, air to water can just drop charge temps a little more but not very practical. hey man, you might want to change your user name, there is a guy on here that sells intercoolers and other turbo stuff, his name is "customcoach", people might think you're mocking him, honestly, that's the first thing i thought when i saw it. (unless this is mike, in which case you know exactly what i'm talking about and probably did it to **** someone off anyways)

Well i really like the PWR water to air barrel styleintercoolers cuz it seemes that there would be less pressure drop. due any of you have problems with pressure drop in your air to air intercoolers

air to water intercooler systems are wayyy more efficient than an air to air system, but it very much depends on the design of the system. mostly used for drag cars, but can be used for a street car too. honestly how many of you out there spend longer than 15 seconds of full boost at a time? even still if you do for longer, then the effectiveness still depends on the size of the ressevoir, the GPM being moved by the waterpump, and the effectiveness, size and placement of the front mount heat exchanger(s). theres a lot of variables. If you have a small resevoir etc. and you do use and ice pack chest then you will need to stop for ice, but if you dont use a icebox and you have a large resevoir then you wont need to stop. But eventually the water will heat up enough that it wont help anymore, in which case yes you will need to stop for ice, or a new fill of cold water. the amount of time it takes to heat up obviously depends on a lot of things. But personally im in love with air-water systems (does it show?)

if you have a good cooler on the front the air-water intercooler would work just as good, and when yer at the track load it up with ice :P

obviously theres a lot more to go wrong with air-water. any water leak can be disaster, and compared to an air-air system, theres a lot more parts than just a core and some piping. So theres a lot more to take into consideration, but i still prefer air-water.
