Default wastegate question

i've decided to use a 14b for my project. my question is, do i HAVE to get a wastegate, or can i just use an MBC to keep my boost at a respectable lvl for a stock bottom end?

Apparently with the 14b's the boost is too high on those actuaters. You'll need to drop it down some. Like by cutting the actuator shaft or carb spring, or new actuator altogether.

Maybe I'm wrong. Anybody else?

If yous be wanting to run 5-6 psi, then go to the "HELP" section of your neighborhood Advance Auto or AutoZone and buy the multipack of carb springs. You can expirement with different spring combinations using the "butt dyno" and your boost gauge. Wastegate actuators are very overated for beginning boosters, and by the time you are ready for some serious boost, you might be thinking about a whole new turbo setup for your style of driving More than likely an external wastegate setup.
