Dont get too excited, the IHI is small, and cant support much power.

Re: ups and downs of a ihi thunderbird turbo???
cause its one of those bull ---- ones(has the downpipe facing right into the block) thats hard to use and it has a werid flange. im just gonna use my ihi im sure for my street car it wil be nice.. im not trying to hit 10s or anything im sure the turbo wont be my problem(traction, fuel ext.) other things to worry about than a turbo im sure it will work fine after seeing all the info givein i think it will work great for me.

Re: ups and downs of a ihi thunderbird turbo???
The reason the Probe manifold wouldn't fit is because the T Bird uses a small T3 exhaust side. The turbine is the same between the MX6, Probe and T Bird but the exhaust side is different on the T Bird. MX6 and Probe use the same exhaust side as each other. The wastegate is 8.7 psi, not 14. And the turbo itself starts to lose efficiency after 16 psi. FYI- there isn't much of a difference between 14 psi and 16 psi on this turbo.
Like I said, check my posts on here and you'll find all the info that you need including a "how to" for rebuilding WITH pictures. |
Re: ups and downs of a ihi thunderbird turbo???

Re: ups and downs of a ihi thunderbird turbo???
so whats the stock psi set at??????? ive her like 8 9 14 which is it guys????

Re: ups and downs of a ihi thunderbird turbo???
it has a pressure control sensor that keeps it between 12-14 on the t-birds
so i would bet it is 13 on your set up i had one and i just switched out the waste gate with a universal. or you could use one off a probe witch is 6-8 ish |
