yeah? wasnt that in the first post? second pull on the dyno the timing belt shreded and would guess it skipped. i put a new belt on it retimed it and it ran perfect with good vacuum...made the 392 two pulls later...

Power has a LOT to do with it. Exhaust valves are only cooled through the guide which is why they make sodium filled valves for high performance applications. When your making more power there is more deflection under combustion but much more importantly you have a much higher of volume of much hotter fluid flowing over the head and stem of the valve which is no longer being adequately cooled. The higher the temperature the lower the yield strength. Spring pressure should have very little effect on the valve since the cam is what determines the rate at which the valve closes. This is where the Herzian stresses come into play.

Its just a guess but over the last year i have done a substantial amount of failure analysis related to valvetrain failure on a supercharged dohc marine engine that sees very high temperatures and load for extended periods of time. Most of our failures were a loss of lash related to seat wear and valve deformation / cupping due to temperature but every once in a while i saw catastrophic failures like this.

I have a ported pr3.. portflow did it, i'll work out a trade with you. I need a gsr head


I wouldnt ever use those rods again. Atleast not the one with the racing dents in the FORGED piston.

sleeve is all nicked up...

rod looks fine... nice crack in the underside of the piston too
