SCC also mentioned that the wrx rally cars are setup to maintain 4psi durning shifts.. This is harder on the turbo but makes the car stay in power better. I will also mention that most guys I know running garret turbos on v8s don't run blow off valves and never have problems with them.

just to be fair, i read it on gus mahon's site. AFAIK, the idea was his.

he was killed last year in a motorcycle accident from what his family wrote on the site. sounded like a hell of a nice guy..
oh yeah, i should probably add too, the boost source line needs a vent as well. the relief valve acts as a check valve so when the boost drops below whatever psi you have it set at, it closes, trapping that pressure in the wastegate and holding it open. gus used a 0.020" hole in the line to bleed off that pressure. i think a normal fish tank check valve parallel to the pressure valve routed so that it flows the opposite direction of flow into the wastegate would relieve the pressure and close the wastegate quicker. it won't affect anything when the valve opens because there is equal pressure on both sides of the valve. it would only open when there is lower pressure on the turbo side of the pressure valve, venting the wastegate pressure back to there.
